THE 5 DO'S AND DONT'S OF BASIC MAKEUP APPLICATION
DO
•Use Proper Lighting- It's important when you apply your make-up that you do so in an environment where the lighting is similar to that where you will be. If you are applying your make-up for a daytime job, be sure to use as much natural daylight as possible. If you're going to be in a setting where the lighting will be dim, or at night, then adjust the lighting accordingly.
•Clean Your Face- Make sure your face is clear of any dirt or any previous make-up, this will ensure the smooth look of your foundation and/or concealer, and it will allow the pores on your face to be clear of anything that may later produce and pimples or bumps because of make-up applied on dirt or makeup applied on old makeup,
Makeup should only go on a freshly washed and moisturized face.
•Find Products that match your skin tone- When buying any foundation or concealer do a test in the store my dabbing a bit on the flat part of your hand, and rub it in, if the color blends well into your skin, then you have found your tone, remember your color, there will be a number or a letter combined with a number or a certain name somewhere on the bottle, this is significant in future purchases, if the color is too light or too dark continue to look for a color you find that is most compatible with YOUR skin tone
•Remove your makeup- Makeup should be removed every night before bedtime to allow your skin to breathe, if you do not have makeup removal pads, some Vaseline and a cotton ball, tissue, or paper towel will get the job done as well.
•Clean your makeup brushes and tools - Your makeup utensils need to be cleaned often to prevent and eliminate bacteria which can form on them.
DON'T
•OVER APPLY - Apply your make-up so it looks heavy. Keep your look simple and fresh for anywhere, you may go work, school, or out on the town.
•Be inappropriate with your makeup- Make-up suitable for work depends on where you work and what you do. For example a bright-red lip may not work in a corporate office but would look great on someone working in fashion. The key is to find a look that works for you and suits the environment you are in.
•Use makeup that is not compatible with your skin type.
•Use expired makeup - bacteria could have formed and you risk causing infections and skin irritations.
•Use harsh cosmetic products for the skin.
The purpose of cosmetics is to enhance a woman's natural beauty. It's important to remember this. Make-up is designed to help minimize imperfections in the skin, and accentuate the shape of the facial features.
